NL West: Will Pivetta’s return move the needle?

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune has reported on the possibility of rehab assignments starting up for Padres pitchers Nick Pivetta and Joe Musgrove, as early as the first week of August. Nothing is set in stone yet, but this new optimism may push San Diego to be a buyer at the deadline – or, at the very least, not be an outright seller.

Both Pivetta and Musgrove have had ace-like seasons in their past. Musgrove’s front-end days may in the past, and the last couple of frustrating years have consisted of neverending IL stays. But if he can finally return, he’s at least an interesting speculation add for fantasy managers. In his last season of action (2024) before undergoing TJS, despite battling elbow issues...
