NEWS: Toronto activated RHP Max Scherzer from the 60-day IL; RHP Spencer Turnbull was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

BHQ SPIN: Max Scherzer made his long-awaited Blue Jays debut returning from a season long stint on the IL. To make room for Scherzer on both the 26-man active roster and the 40-man roster, the Blue Jays have designated Spencer Turnbull for assignment. Turnbull, 32, signed a one-year deal with Toronto in early May and was called up in early June. However, he struggled in his brief major league stint, allowing five runs with a 4:4 K:BB over 6.1 innings across one start and two relief appearances.
