NEWS: Toronto placed closer Jordan Romano on the 15-day IL with lower back inflammation.  Nate Pearson was recalled from AAA-Buffalo in a corresponding move.

IMPACT: High

BHQ SPIN: This is not great news for the playoff hopeful Blue Jays.  Romano’s back first flared up during his appearance at the All-Star game; during which he was removed from the outing as a precaution.  Erik Swanson, who filled in after the All-Star break and has logged 2 saves in 2023, should be at the top of the list for saves. RHP Yimi García got the most recent save on July 28 and is also in the mix.
